2026-2027 Transfer Information:
RFISD Families,
The enrollment and transfer process for the 2026–2027 school year will begin on 2/17/26, and we would like to share several important highlights. All transfer applications will be completed online this year—this includes both returning transfer students and new transfer students. Please note, families who will be living on Randolph Air Force Base at the start of the 2026-2027 school year do NOT need to apply online through this process (further directions will be shared soon).
Required Transfer Documentation
Please have the following documentation ready for submission:
- Current military orders, DD-214, or address of the location of federal employment
- Current report card
- Current attendance record
- Current discipline record
- If no official discipline record is available, a letter from the previous school must be provided outlining discipline history or stating that there has been no history of disciplinary action
- Special services documentation (if applicable): 504, ESL/BIL, Dyslexia, Speech, G/T, IEP
- Copies of current state standardized testing scores
-
*Current RFISD transfer students (2025-2026 school year) who are reapplying (2026-2027 school year) only need to submit current military orders, DD-214, or address of the location of federal employment
Transfer Consideration Process
As a reminder, RFISD is required to serve all students residing on Randolph Air Force Base. After determining available seats, services, and staffing needed to meet the needs of Randolph AFB students, transfer applications will be considered based on priority order.
Priority is determined by eligibility for Impact Aid funding, which is a primary funding source for RFISD. Unlike most public school districts in Texas, RFISD does not receive funding through state property taxes.
Transfer consideration priority order:
- Active-duty or USC Title X military-connected students residing on federal property other than Randolph AFB
- Active-duty or USC Title X military-connected students residing off federal property
- Civilian personnel working on federal property
- Retired military (20 years of service) not working on federal property
Additional Factors Affecting Approval
Other criteria that may exclude a transfer student from immediate approval include:
- Grades and academic record
- Attendance, including tardies and early sign-outs
- Discipline records
No transfer students will be accepted if approval would require the hiring of additional staff beyond the allotment made for students residing within the boundaries of Randolph Field ISD.
Continued Transfer Approval for Secondary Students
Transfer applications for current and new students for the 2026–2027 school year will open at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
Please note that once a transfer student has reached the spring semester of their 8th-grade year at RFISD, their transfer will be eligible for continued approval for each subsequent school year, provided the student continues to meet all requirements of the transfer agreement.
This includes maintaining satisfactory:
- Academic performance
- Attendance, including tardies and early sign-outs
- Discipline record
Students will still be required to complete the annual transfer application process; however, families will not need to worry about whether the student will be reaccepted each year. Continued approval will be granted unless the student no longer meets the established transfer requirements. If a student is not going to receive approval, the campus administration will contact the parent/guardian directly prior to the end of the current school year.

Applications will be reviewed, and notification of status (acceptance, waitlist, or does not meet criteria) for the first round of transfer applications for returning students, pre-kindergarten students, and kindergarten students will be sent by 5:00 p.m. on April 2, 2026, via email.
